What to do at a HAIRSHOW!

This weekend i went to ISSE LB  :)http://www.probeauty.org/isselb/ I go to this show every year and always learn so much. This time I got to meet the great Steve Elias. Steve is a master hairdresser he has won TONS of awards in our industry. He now has his own magazine, where fashion and hair are combined to create fantastic visually stimulating photographs.  http://www.tantalummag.com/ check it out! Steve taught a class with my parents (The TEALS http://www.tealsalon.com/ ) this weekend on wigs and hair pieces for photo shoots. The class was EPIC even for me who has see my parents on stage my whole life. We did five different classes at  ISSE and i can say 100% that we had a great time teaching every single one.
Here is my guide to getting the most out of your first hair show.
  1. Get a schedule.
  2. The pit (This is also called the show floor. Product, distributors, and hair extensions live here. if you want to spend your money or are opening a salon this is your place to go. ) is your enemy.
  3. BUY CLASSES NOT GLASSES. (there is a time and place for drinking... its not here.)
  4. Choose the right classes. Be sure you have a plan or outline of which classes you plan on taking. once you choose a class or workshop don't back down. You need to stay through the entire duration of the class. Getting up to leave is rude.
  5. Dress to impress! Classy not over the top crazy.
  6. Take notes. write it ALL down!
  7. Stay all day. You are going to be on your feet all day as a hairdresser anyway! Get to work kids!your day doesn't end till the show ends.
  8. Focus on technique NOT product. if you are looking for a product line CONTACT A MANUFACTURER! a hair show is a place where you should expand your horizons technically.
  9. Have business cards. NETWORK NETWORK NETWORK!
  10. Be prepared. Water, granola bars, extra cash just in case.
